In 2015, Copenhagen Pump was contacted by consulting engineering company with a very exciting task for the manufacture of Medico related equipment.
The task was extremely complex. A mixture of methanol and concentrated Sulphuric acid had to be pumped around and flow-divided. Varying differential pressures and a cooling process to -50 C.
The media's danger meant that the choice fell on frequency-thin ATEX approved magnetic switch pumps from Green Pump in PVDF. During the process, we had to specially make bearing parts due to fluidum's molecule size.
At such low temperatures, all materials are stressed to the maximum and faulty operation of the plant is immediately punished with accidents as a result. Fortunately, the collaboration between advisors, end user, pump manufacturer, material suppliers and parallel suppliers was world class. Therefore, it was possible to adapt the product during and after delivery based on the data obtained.
Picture shows pumps in the installation with the connection of nitrogen overlay of the magnet coupling. This is done to prevent precipitation of condensed ice.
The project has had a single intervention after commissioning but has otherwise run without comment.
