In 2020, Copenhagen Pump was contacted by the Danish Technological Institute, which was leading a research project on the construction challenges of deep geothermal energy for Maersk. We were invited to save on the project with a special focus on pump solutions and the challenges involved. The project was granted to last 1/2 year and Copenhagen Pump delivered approximately 200 hours in this connection. We contacted, interviewed and visited several geothermal plants. Examples include deep geothermal plants 1,000-3,000 m in Tisted, Copenhagen, and a surface plant (-100 m) at Novo Nordisk.
In the process, we calculated pressure, flow and energy on reference plants set up by the project group under the Danish Technological Institute. Finally, we submitted our recommendations especially focusing on technology, operating economy and plant intervention as part of a final project. We are very satisfied with our contribution to the conclusion and look forward to new challenges.
