Næstved Allweiler RG pumps for drained sludge from tape filters

Copenhagen Pump was contacted in 2015 in connection with a 1 year delivery inspection of a major tape filter project. The original designed pumps with simply feed slugs simply could not keep up and, as a result, were quickly worn to pieces. They were, of course, an unsustainable situation. After thorough examination of the project, it was decided, in consultation with machine builder and customer, to supply an Allweiler RG dry matter pump, which is intended for pumping high dry matter sludge (up to 35 %). The pump is special in it, it has a secondary geared double-feed slug which constantly keeps pressure on the drained dry matter up against the pump's suction chamber. The special construction ensures that the pump does not underfill. In this way, high volumetric efficiency, less friction and thus longer mechanical life are achieved. The change in technology meant that the lifespan of the stator/rotor increased by a factor of 10.
